August 3rd Tweetathon
« on: August 01, 2016, 03:16:54 AM »

Don't forget to be on Twitter this Wednesday for the monthly #SaveShenmueHD Tweetathon!

Here's a reminder of what various parties connected to the series have had to say about re-releasing the first two Shenmue games in time for the long awaited sequel in December 2017:

Shenmue 3 director Yu Suzuki: "I personally would like to see remastered versions come out before Shenmue 3, so fans can really get to know the story and enjoy 3 even more. I really hope this could happen. The rights to Shenmue 1 & 2 belong to Sega, so I am not in a position to comment on it. However I would like to talk to them about it."

Shenmue 3 co-producer Cédric Biscay: "We are always proud to see how the fans are supporting Shenmue in various ways. You guys rock! I think it’s very important for the series to have Shenmue 1 & 2 in HD before the Shenmue 3 release."

Shenmue 3 team member NoconKid: "If Sega make it, it will make lots of fans happy across the world... Sega has ignored the fans' petitions for far too long."

Shenmue 3 advisor Ryan Payton: "The best approach is to (nicely) bombard Sega with requests for it. Good luck!"

Sega community manager Dan Sheridan: "With regards to Shenmue 1 & 2 HD, of course we would love to release these tomorrow. Sadly it's not as simple as porting the games to current platforms, as we would need to ensure that any HD remaster lives up to the quality of the original titles, and with games as immersive as Shenmue 1 & 2 there are further complications from licensed products that were included in the original games. That said, we'd love to do it, and are currently investigating how to make it a reality."

To ensure your participation every 3rd of the month, please sign in at with your Twitter account and activate your AutoTweet. It's the easiest, most efficient way to support the campaign.

But you don't have to stop there, as every tweet and retweet makes the 24-hour event even harder to ignore, attracting new support to the cause and increasing the chances of the full Shenmue saga being restored from the beginning.

With the first two games available to newcomers on modern systems, interest in Shenmue 3 will rise to new heights, securing it the sales that are needed to justify a full publishing deal for Shenmue 4.

This is our window of opportunity to protect the long term future of Yu Suzuki's classic. Let's seize it with both hands this Wednesday and every month, as we spread the word and be heard on the 3rd!

Music from Shenmue, which was voted into Classic FM's Hall of Fame earlier this year as its highest charting new entry, received more airplay on the station this past weekend.

You can listen to the famous Sedge Tree track along with the radio host's comments here:

The fan power that helped the game's soundtrack obtain this mainstream recognition can also influence the likelihood of the first two titles being remastered for modern gaming platforms.

This Wednesday, August 3rd, the #SaveShenmueHD Tweetathon invites gamers from around the world to converge around this hashtag on Twitter. With the launch of Shenmue 3 drawing nearer by the month, the pressure must be kept on Sega to allow new fans the chance to get on board the franchise from the very first chapter of Ryo's epic journey.

Be a part of something special and gain more exposure for the Shenmue series: Team Yu needs YOU to spread the word and be heard on the 3rd!

Thanks to all the great fans who answered the call yesterday and stood up to be counted in the ‪#‎SaveShenmueHD‬ Tweetathon!

If there's one thing we value above all else, it's the Shenmue community pulling together to put the future of the series first, and to do that we now have to restore the past for a new generation with Shenmue 1 & 2.

Everyone involved in the making of Shenmue 3 knows it, and you proved yesterday that they're not alone, because every true fan was willing and eager to spread the word and be heard on the 3rd - just like you do every month!

That's why we're always so excited when an opportunity comes along to reward your dedication to making real progress for the cause, and so we couldn't have been happier to launch the Mirror, Mirror Contest during yesterday's event.

You can learn all about the contest and the specially donated prize right here.

The deadline for entries is the end of next month's Tweetathon, which of course is September 3rd. Best of luck and more importantly, have fun with it! You've earned it!
