4th Anniversary Shenmue Tweetathon
« on: March 05, 2016, 05:06:19 AM »

It's March 4th, and that's exactly what you did yesterday in the campaign to #SaveShenmueHD!

Thank you to EVERYBODY who joined the mayhem on Twitter to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the Shenmue Tweetathon.

There are so many improbabilities that led to this milestone:

1) That fans would still be observing this monthly routine after four whole years.

2) That Shenmue III would actually enter development during that time.

3) That so many would continue fighting for the franchise even after that.

And yet, tirelessly, you have stuck to your guns and made it clear that you will keep up the good work until the job is done. And that job is now restoring Shenmue's past to ensure its future.

For the story to reach its long awaited conclusion in Shenmue IV or V, Shenmue III must achieve sales that eradicate the memory of its "commercial failure" stigma, which haunted the series since its virtual suffocation on the Dreamcast. With an audience now large enough to make good on its budget, Shenmue deserves every chance to rewrite its destiny.

And that means letting newcomers discover the saga from the beginning.

Thank you for continuing to push Sega to re-release the original games on modern platforms, a move that would allow Shenmue III the best opportunity to re-establish the franchise and leave a whole new generation hungry for the next lucrative chapter.

Next month is a milestone of another kind, and very special plans are in place to mark the occasion, so we look forward to joining you once again to spread the word and be heard on the 3rd. Team Yu needs YOU for Shenmue 1 & 2!

This is the case where you say "happy anniversary!" but at the same time you say "hope this will be the last one!"
