Shenmue III at MAGIC Monaco
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:47:25 AM »

Social media has been abuzz all weekend with the latest screenshots and videos to emerge of Shenmue III, courtesy of Yu Suzuki at the MAGIC Monaco convention.

A search of the hashtag ‪#‎Shenmue3‬ on Twitter will provide a taste of the excitement pouring onto the Internet from fans and websites alike, including a promotional tweet from the official PlayStation account, and the game became the number one trend on Facebook.

A pictorial Kickstarter update accompanied proceedings, although arguably the highlight of the day's new content is a video depicting the gloriously faithful recreation of Shenhua's house, accurate to the last kitchen utensil, with the Shenmue tree itself waving its branches and dropping its petals in the outside wind in luscious high definition. So far only "fan cam" footage of this teaser exists online but we would expect the full quality original to be made available soon.

Before signing autographs Suzuki was interviewed on stage by Winning Can Raffle prize donor David De ville, and also took questions from the audience. A translated recap can be found here.

We can also look forward to French fan site Shenmue Master publishing their interview with Suzuki that was filmed in the afternoon. What further details has the Shenmue III designer divulged to these dedicated followers of the game's tumultuous journey from over a decade in limbo to its current state of active development? We'll be sure to share their video here when it's ready!

Thanks to French website Shenmue Master for filming the main Shenmue III conference at MAGIC Monaco last weekend, and to members of Shenmue Dojo for adding their own English and French translations:

Yu Suzuki spoke of the series' history and what to expect in Shenmue III, including details of the combat and the mystical elements introduced towards the end of the second game.

Shenmue III can be pre-ordered at along with a host of physical and in-game crowdfunding goodies.

Shibuya Productions, run by Shenmue III co-producer Cédric Biscay, today published its showreel from the Cannes Film Festival, highlighting its portfolio of current projects.

Amongst them, from around 1:12 in the video, you'll find clips of the magnificent Shenmue III teaser first shown at MAGIC Monaco in February, and only available online as off-screen "fan cam" footage until now.

Shenmue III can be pre-ordered at, where all funds contribute to the ongoing development of this long awaited sequel.
