Apologies for the less-than-smooth start, everyone! In our tests the Twitter search widgets worked fine, but of course when it came to going live...

We're not sure it's going to pan out just the way we wanted to on this occasion, but we've added some links to our own tweets which, if you retweet them in sequence, will have almost the same effect.

Next time we do this we'll be a little wiser! ;)

The early technical hiccups have been resolved, so if anyone's been holding off, you can now proceed with reckless abandon at TeamYu.net/QTE! :)

Last week we took on a new concept that we labelled the #SaveShenmue Quick Timed Event, aiming to give the Shenmue III Kickstarter an extra big kick in its final days.

The QTE involved participants following simple button presses here on the site, resulting in a colorful tower of carefully co-ordinated Shenmue images decorating the news feeds of their Twitter followers, accompanied by introductory facts about the series and compelling reasons to back the Kickstarter. One of the tweets in each tower was from the user's own account, the rest being retweets from six other participants. When scrolling past all seven images, the giant letters in their center spelled "SHENMUE" from top to bottom.

At stake for participants, in addition to promoting what would later become the highest funded Kickstarter for a video game in history, was an opportunity to win two vacant spots in the Shenmue III credits. Donated by two campaigners from their Kickstarter rewards, the prize would allow the winner plus a friend or relative - or two, if they already had such a Kickstarter reward of their own - to have their names digitally immortalized together forever in the most significant video game sequel of our lifetimes.

The interest and support for this event was staggering, and we want to thank everybody for embracing an idea that was kept deliberately vague beforehand, and for your patience when a technical hitch delayed the silky smooth start we'd envisioned. We're delighted with how it went overall, and see a lot of potential for future events when needs arise.

But we've kept you waiting long enough - it's time to announce the winner of the inaugural QTE! The first ten participants and four random others were entered into a draw, and the lucky name pulled out of it was: Marwa Hadi!

"An Iraqi girl who's going through life and is obsessed with Japan," this Baghdad resident had already secured her place in the Shenmue III credits through her Kickstarter donation, allowing her to give both of her newly awarded spots to fellow Shenmue fans Hasan Al-Momin and Ghaid (Didi) Haider. Please look out for all three when the credits eventually roll, and join us today in congratulating @MarwaHadi_M for keeping friends close with the #SaveShenmue QTE!
