Revised my auto-tweet this morning. We're so close, I can almost taste it.

It'll be a call to action for the Kickstarter - precise wording yet to be decided.

Okay. I'm all for a call to action for the kickstarter. But I'd still like to know the wording whenever it's decided if that's okay? I like to know what I'll be tweeting.

One important thing is that we don't annoy Sony or Sega. They've already been very helpful thus far. Sega didn't turn out to be that bad after all. They were just scared.  And though they shouldn't have been. It's understandable.

On what should be the happiest week that Shenmue fans could imagine (and it is), there are nonetheless people out there intent on raining on our parade with misinformed and misreported claims.

Since the beginning of our campaign to revive the Shenmue series, we've had to untangle web after web of misinformation propagated by lazy journalists. So it's almost fitting that on the week Shenmue III is finally announced, we're doing more of the same.

We wouldn't mind, but the irresponsible clickbait polluting the Internet over this issue could easily harm the continued success of the Kickstarter we've all waited so long to embrace, and without more stretch goals being reached there will be noticeable limitations on what can be achieved in developing Shenmue III.

Sony are not the Fairy Godmother waving their magic wand to fully fund this game. They are providing some financial assistance to get it onto PS4 and helping a lot with marketing, as it's phenomenal PR for their brand to do so. But this is Yu Suzuki's independently owned project and crowdfunding is critical in deciding the scope of its actual development.

By this stage we expect no better from the media, but we implore all fans to arm themselves with the facts and spread the truth to combat any negativity being falsely aimed at this Kickstarter.

We still need YOU to ‪#‎SaveShenmue‬.

I couldn't agree more.

Will you let us know the wording of the tweet when it's decided please?

Kudos to The Escapist and to Casually Addicted for being two sites keeping their heads when all about them are losing theirs.

If you caught our post earlier today, you'll know there has been a lot of bogus scaremongering being pushed by other corners of the media, so it's refreshing to see some ethical reporting coming to the fore.

In the past hour or so the fluctuating Kickstarter fund has ebbed above the $3.5 million dollar mark, unlocking the Skill Tree stretch goal. Your pledges are still needed to unlock further goals and allow Yu Suzuki to make the Shenmue III that he's had in mind for the last 14 years: http://bit.ly/saveshenmue

We've been asked a lot of questions over the past week about where the #SaveShenmue campaign is headed, after the blockbuster announcement of Shenmue III at Sony's E3 press conference.

The answers largely depend on the direction taken by Yu Suzuki after July 17th, when crowdfunding on Kickstarter comes to a close.

Until then, our focus is very obvious: driving pledges toward those stretch goals, pushing to make Shenmue III the very best sequel it can be. After all these years of never giving up on each other, Suzuki and his fans deserve to continue their story together in the grandest style.

Next Friday, July 3rd, a monthly tradition dating back over three years potentially culminates in the most significant #SaveShenmue Tweetathon there has ever been. It's truly crunch time, as we need to use our strongest campaigning tool to raise as much awareness and interest in the Shenmue III Kickstarter as we possibly can. This is our only shot to utilize the biggest routine social media event in gaming to the advantage of Shenmue III's development. When fans worldwide descend on Twitter out of well worn habit on the 3rd, we must all have our working boots on.

For those of you who've only come to know of the campaign through its recent success, the Tweetathon will be a new experience. Brace yourselves. Get involved on July 3rd and you will soon understand how Shenmue was saved. The Tweetathon is like nothing else, and we are so glad you'll be able to join us for this particularly momentous round of insanity in a collective effort to maximize the budget for Shenmue III.

The global outpouring of support and passion for Yu Suzuki's magnum opus lasts all day, reaching audiences far and wide by tweeting and retweeting messages united by the hashtag #SaveShenmue, a slogan now adopted by Suzuki-san himself.

But one important aspect of the event lasts just a single moment, when all of your posts pre-loaded using TeamYu.net/AutoTweet are released simultaneously in a mass explosion of publicity for our common cause. If you haven't activated your AutoTweet yet, then now is the time to reserve your place in history on July 3rd.

We can't thank all of you enough for your tireless support during a campaign that we knew would be long and drawn out, but had no way of proving to you that it would eventually work. Our eternal gratitude is equalled only by our determination to make the most of the chance we now have to mobilize this international Shenmue Army for the ultimate test of our mantra.

Spread the word and be heard on the 3rd:

Team Yu needs YOU to #SaveShenmue!

Yu Suzuki has issued the following statement addressing inaccuracies reported by a vocal minority who somehow pass or attempt to pass for gaming journalists lately:

http://kickstarter.com/projects/ysnet/shenmue-3/posts/1273833

The text in full:

There have been many questions concerning Shenmue 3’s budget and what outside sources will be added to the money collected through Kickstarter. I apologize for not having been more forthright in this area and would like to take this opportunity to help clarify the situation.

Ys Net and I have been putting in many long years trying to find a way to bring back a sequel that so many fans have waited so long for. After learning of Kickstarter, I knew it would be possible to get Shenmue 3 started. Wanting to make the best game possible, I also knew that I would have to look to more traditional means to obtain all the funds that would be needed to create the game I had envisioned.

Sony and Shibuya Productions have been wonderful partners because they believe in Shenmue and want to see the best for the fans and the game. Their investment in (and support of) Shenmue have helped to realize a sequel that will stand proud with its predecessors. While it is not business practice to discuss the specific details of such arrangements, I can say that with their assistance on the production and marketing end, and in Sony’s case with some publishing support as well, Ys Net is able to use more of the money we collect through Kickstarter purely for Shenmue 3’s development. It is also important to note that your funds are going strictly to Ys Net for development of Shenmue 3 – Sony and Shibuya Productions are not seeing a cent of your Kickstarter dollars.

The outpouring of support from all of you, the backers, has been so inspirational. I cannot thank you enough. Having reached our funding goal, I am excited to say that the Shenmue story will go on, and our journey with Ryo and Shenhua will continue. Fans will be able to enjoy the sequel they have waited so long for, and newcomers to the series will be introduced to a unique gaming experience.

Of course, like with any Kickstarter, additional funding will only help us make a better game. On top of everything Shenmue 3 will already bring, the Stretch Goals that I have laid out will add extra quests, events, and new gameplay systems that will make the game even more immersive and take the series to the next level. At the $5 million mark, there will be an all new gameplay feature I would be excited to be able to add to the Shenmue legacy. If we should make the $10 million Stretch Goal, a much larger, completely open world will be yours to explore.

Even if these Stretch Goals are not reached, Shenmue 3 will already be a sequel true to its name, and one we can all be proud of. It is my hope though, that together we can make this Shenmue just as revolutionary as the first two were.

I understand this statement may by late in coming. Going forward, we wish to be as open as possible concerning the game’s development. I would like to again ask for your cooperation and support in helping make Shenmue 3 the best that it can be.

Sincerely, Yu Suzuki

Thanks to Shenmue Dojo for uploading a video of the recent appearance by Yu Suzuki on Twitch, discussing Shenmue III and the Kickstarter project.

It's clearly been an exhausting two weeks for the crew, but the stream lasted nearly an hour and everyone using the #SaveShenmue hashtag got a shout-out at the end.

To check out the new reward tiers and stretch goals, visit the Kickstarter page: bit.ly/saveshenmue

And make sure you're ready to help promote it with the #SaveShenmue Tweetathon next Friday, July 3rd! TeamYu.net/AutoTweet

"Okay. Next. Ummm. Moving on. Okay. ... Okay." That guy's dialogue makes him a perfect candidate for a role in III. :P

But seriously, a very informative video. Like the original announcement, I missed it due to time differences. Thanks for sharing.
