Sega withdraws from making console games
« on: May 18, 2015, 12:24:54 AM »

Got this bad news from my brother today.

This could either mean the end of the Shenmue III dream... or a new hope if they're now more prepared to relinquish the licence.

Is there something we can do? Any ideas?

Actually, maybe not.

Can't find any other news sites reporting this so could be a rumour.

I think there's been a lot of gun-jumping when it comes to reports of Sega's business strategy. Whilst Sega of America has been restructured and there's clearly a firm interest in milking the mobile market, there's been no solid indication that this all spells the end for console games from Sega. It has on the other hand been categorically stated that Sonic games will continue to be released on consoles, and that was by one of the executives responsible for that series, so his lack of comment on other titles is no reflection on their status.

Yes, I think I definitely jumped the gun a bit. Guess I panicked when I saw the first article. Sorry about that.
