Shenmue vinyl OST contest

Shenmue fans, we have some good news and some bad news...

The sad news is, the limited edition Shenmue LP from Data Discs is now SOLD OUT. This version of the remastered vinyl soundtrack album is no longer available to pre-order, after being snapped up within hours.

The great news is, you have ONE LAST CHANCE to obtain the final copy of this limited edition item directly from Data Discs, as they have partnered with Team Yu and the #SaveShenmue campaign for an amazing competition!

This Wednesday, June 3rd, the monthly #SaveShenmue Tweetathon rocks Twitter in the ongoing battle to revive Yu Suzuki's unfinished masterpiece, with fans from all walks of life tweeting the hashtag to raise awareness and build solidarity amongst gamers worldwide.

So what better setting to celebrate the breathtaking music of Shenmue with a contest to win the most coveted item since the Dragon and Phoenix Mirrors?

To enter, simply follow these two steps:

1) Activate your monthly AutoTweet here at if you haven't already.
2) Post a tweet on June 3rd mentioning your favorite Shenmue musical track, together with the hashtag #SaveShenmue and the record label's username @datadiscs.

And that's it! The winner will be selected at random and be contacted by Team Yu by this Sunday.

Please note that Data Discs will not be able to send the prize until September when all pre-orders begin shipping out, and if the winner has already pre-ordered a limited edition version of the album, they will be asked to choose a substitute prize from the available range of other editions for either Shenmue or Streets of Rage.

But if Lady Luck doesn't smile on you this Wednesday, don't forget you can still pre-order two other editions of the album at that differ only in their aesthetic vinyl effects. The remastered tunes sound just as enchanting and all versions, including the limited edition up for grabs in this contest, come with a lithographic print.

Note: Mystical Chinese mirrors pictured are not included with prize. We wouldn't want a black car pulling up in your driveway.

The last ‪#‎SaveShenmue‬ Tweetathon before E3 is now in the books, and as always the thunderous outpouring of support for Yu Suzuki's unfinished symphony was music to our ears.

Thank you to EVERYONE who tweeted and kept this game on people's minds even on a day when Fallout 4 was announced. That was a heck of a story to compete with, but if anything this juxtaposition reminded gamers that not every sequel is guaranteed, and we need their support to make ours happen.

Thanks also to Data Discs for the contest that drew so much attention - people really wanted that last remaining limited edition soundtrack LP! We've storified your entries here:

There was clearly a common theme running through the favorite tracks you declared, and fortunately it's on the album that one lucky winner will receive for the price of a tweet. Stay tuned for that announcement as soon as we're able to confirm it!

The next #SaveShenmue Tweetathon is, of course, on July 3rd, and we're counting on you all to be there. If you can't, or you simply don't trust your memory on that distant day, then be sure to guarantee your effortless contribution with

Next week however, we'd also like you to join us in celebrating Yu Suzuki's birthday on June 10th, now that he's back on Twitter. So next Wednesday, please drop a tweet to @yu_suzuki_jp and wish him many happy returns, because this gaming icon shares our wish for the happiest return of them all.

And when that day comes, the Internet will know the meaning of post-apocalyptic.

My competition entry didn't get posted. It failed, then I got a migraine and forgot. But I've pre-ordered it anyway, so I'm still looking forward to getting it. :D

The time has come to announce the winner of the Data Discs contest to win a limited edition Shenmue LP!

Last week the #SaveShenmue Tweetathon hosted a competition that simply invited participants to name their favorite tunes from the series' soundtrack. You can check out the entries here:

A random draw was held and we're excited to now reveal that the winner of the last in this sold-out line of official merchandise is...

...pandawg! Congratulations and we hope you'll enjoy your prize direct from Data Discs, who've been fantastic throughout the organizing of this contest.

We know everybody will join us in wishing @pandawg well, and rest assured, there will be more Tweetathon contests in the future.

The next regular Tweetathon itself is scheduled for July 3rd of course, and we'll see you all there because the biggest prize we can all obtain is yet to come.
