A Korean fan going by the name NoconKid has unveiled a truly stunning recreation of Yokosuka in glorious detail, putting Sega to shame for not beating him to it:

These are absolutely incredible. Putting Sega to shame and showing them what this game could still offer them. Arcade has had a nice bit of refurbishment too, loads of new units  :)

A part of me wishes that this would be like that P.T. PS4 demo, where Sega would have covered this all up as a 'fan-project' and then eventually pop out and say 'Surprise!'

I know however that Sega just isn't that cool. *sigh*

Words can not express how so inspiring, beautiful and well made that is. Incredible work, NoconKid!

P.S.: Hey, SEGA, that is what you can call an "instant buy"...

I actually prefer the new arcade design compared to the original.

Indeed, indeed, I noticed that! *laughs* That arcade feel connecting to the childhood (was an arcade kid, but because I've played Alex Kidd in Miracle World both at the arcades and on Sega Master System II, too).

By the way, the most difficult thing he would encounter, is the scripting of events, like cinematic's, interactions with objects and non-playable-characters et cetera. Of course, if he will go as far as that, which is a giant mountain of work for a single person. Just the high definition recreation of the environments and objects, even the models of the characters with the basic animations and routines of the world (day to night shift and vice versa, daily activities of NPCs) would do it, to quench an important portion of the thirst for a Shenmue HD...

I love the new arcade, but part of me would like to see QTE Title, Excite QTE and Darts in there for authenticity. But yeah, I never understood why the arcade only had 6 games (one being a dupe) and a jukebox; there was a laser tag place near me that had over a dozen machines in the lobby (including Virtual On... man, why did that place have to burn down? *sniff*).

It is amazing. A post about it in the #SaveShenmue Tumblr blog, has hit 80 157 notes until now, and it is the most popular post so far (second most popular post is one about SEGA's Q&A panel, with 59 notes): http://saveshenmue.tumblr.com/post/95447422597/shenmue-hd-is-being-made-by-a-fan-because-sega
