Title: Games You Haven't Played Yet, But You Want To //List 'em all!//
Post by: Giorgio on September 09, 2014, 04:56:50 AM
In this topic we will progressively list all the games that we want to play one day, but we haven't got the chance to do so, yet.

Please try to categorize the games as best as possible, to avoid messy or gigantic lists. For example, categorize games based on platforms, genres etc. Furthermore, if (for example) you have in mind / your goal is to play all (or most of the) games of a specific platform, genre, period etc, then you can state that as such (and thus not list all of those games).

Too many to list, but I'll try a few.

The game I really want to play the most (aside from Shenmue HD/3) isn't out yet, and neither do I have a PS4 to play it on... and that's Uncharted 4. I love the other four games (yes, even the Vita game).

The other also isn't out, and that's Zelda on the Wii U.

Ones that I missed out on (my DS busted) include any Phoenix Wright game after the third, any Professor Layton game after the second, and several adventure games (Tales of Monkey Island, Moebius, Cognition).

I'll probably edit this post into a list tomorrow. Right now, I'm off to bed. :D

Im not a fan of buying digitally so there is 1 game I want to play from last gen.
Way of the samurai 4. The problem is that companies do stupid stuff like let you cary over stats from the last game...but then only release the new game on 1 console.

I have part 3 on the 360 and 4 was going to be ps3 only, no biggie until it was digi only.

I really want Yakuza Kenzan too.

My thing is that I refuse to import because all that does is fluff up the japanese sales figures. I wish there was an official stat for imports and where they were shipped . That way they could see who is contributing to the sales numbers

So long story short
PS3
Way of the samurai 4
Yakuza Kenzan

Xbox original
MAGATAMA.
Marc Ecko getting up. [Always wanted that game but I was just too broke at the time]

I saw that news this morning but I have a basic old pc from 2004. Youtube is so fancy with all that flash that videos freeze up my pc.

I need to see if the pal version had a disc release since a different studio localized it for Europe.

You should look into building a new pc, it's a helluva lot cheaper than buying one prebuilt. This article here describes making a 400 dollar ps4 equivalent pc, nearly so anyway, and it's a year old.

Speaking of games i need to play, this is one of them. I've only played a bit of it so far on the ps3, but it's good wacky fun right up my alley that i keep intending to get to, but just haven't yet.

I never played "The Last Of Us" on PS3, so have bought the PS4 remaster. But the day I bought it, I got called away for work, so it's sat at home miles away still in it's wrapping. It's killing me haha  :(

I've been meaning to play through more Tokyo Jungle. Love that game. It's like Crazy Taxi, but with animals wearing hats.

I have added Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Trick%3A_Phantom_Detective) and Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Birdman:_Attorney_at_Law_(video_game)) to my list.

The first is from Shu Takumi, the man responsible for Ace Attorney, too; it seems he has become my second most favourite game creator after Yu Suzuki...

The second (and its gameplay) is like Ace Attorney but with a humourous twist. //<- After further examination, I don't find this inspiring, so I have removed it from my list...//

Conclusively, it seems I really like detective-type games... Hello, detective Ryo Hazuki solving the mystery of Iwao Hazuki's murder case; get your revenge on that Lan Di by earning a guilty verdict...

I'm really struggling to reconcile that description with everything I've heard about the game till now. In what way is it like Crazy Taxi?

My gaming backlog is longer than a Kowloon window cleaner's ladder. The following list is not for the faint hearted, so be warned if you're prone to seizures.

Some of the unopened boxes I can easily see include Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Yakuza 3, Yakuza: Dead Souls, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, Ghostbusters, Arkham Asylum, Journey, Shadow of the Colossus, Another Code: R, Fable III, Heavy Rain, Bayonetta, Sleeping Dogs, Tales from Liberty City, Danganronpa, Skyward Sword, and Bubsy 3D.

I've also yet to embark on the Mass Effect series, the God of War Collection, Assassin's Creed (I, II, III and Brotherhood), the Monkey Island remakes, and the Uncharted trilogy.

There are more to taunt me, including a fan translation of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 that I feared we'd never see. But I need to finish Dual Destinies first...

Suffice to say I don't spend nearly enough time actually playing games these days, but I can never seem to resist a bargain.

Glad you mentioned "Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher", Stare! That game introduced me to the Ace Attorney series, when I read its postmortem, mentioning that they took inspiration from the first.

[...] and Bubsy 3D.
I have seen a gameplay video of it and it looks uninspiring in a laughable way... I found a web version (probably fan made version, which it does look better than the original...) of Bubsy 3D, here (http://bubsy3d.com/).

Suffice to say I don't spend nearly enough time actually playing games these days, [...]
Me too. Just there are a handful of games that really inspire me to play them.

Tokyo Jungle is like Crazy Taxi in the sense that time is always running out fast and you have to be always moving on to your next conquest. It's also random every time, like a rogue-like. The cool thing with Tokyo Jungle is that there's story in there ya can eke out bit by bit, and you're constantly upgrading and unlocking things. It's rather addictive, James. Now i want Crazy Taxi 4 to have a story mode in it along with the ability to unlock clothes for BD Joe, haha.

It must have been you i heard about Socrates Jones from, Giorgio, as i only recently discovered it. Thanks, bubba, that game rocks so hard!

Top of my list is to finish Shenmue 1, though I probably need to stop bringing it up, seeing as it's one of the greatest shames of my life. I need to get a copy of the game though as I no longer have it, so please let me know if anyone comes across a bargain for it, though I imagine that's unlikely. After that probably Yakuza 4, as I actually have that (though it's not my copy), so I may get cracking on that in the mean time.

Tokyo jungle is awesome. Its a very unique survival game. I bought a stupid psn collection on disc that had 4 games just to finally play TJ. I never touched 2 others and I ran through sound shapes.

I just wish the disc came with dlc cuz I wanted to play as the 2 humans. The story mode is cool but the arcade mode is where it all goes down.

I remember whenni first survived 100 years and started running away from those vicious cave men, they were brutal and almost every area was toxic.

I just finally started playing Resident Evil 4 HD on the 360.  [First time playing it] I was annoyed at first because of the left stick aiming, only because I remember how hard it was to forget that archaic control scheme after playing yakuza dead souls so much.  I remember playing dead souls for a long time and then going back to uncharted 2 so I could  play with a friend...it was the worst experience ever and it took 3 days to forget dead souls control scheme.

Didn't Tokyo Jungle get a Eurogamer 10/10 lol. That's good enough for me.

There are so many DS and 3DS games I really want to play. Top of those are probably that 999 virtual novel game on DS, and Shin Megami Tensei 4 on 3DS, but I neither have a DS nor 3DS at current unfortunately.

The Stanley Parabble was added in my list. I feel I'll like this game. Story driven, a lot of choices for the player to make, thus interaction, surprises from the multiple choices and thus multiple endings, breaking the fourth wall (as it say) etc.

I tried the demo. The game is awesome, because it is very weird, in a positive surprising way; a unique experience. My problem is that when I play games with that kind of first person camera, I get a lot of dizzy and end up not feeling right...

I want to play this NES game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeshi_no_Ch%C5%8Dsenj%C5%8D) I heard about recently on Facebook. Ostensibly it's a spin-off from the marvellous Takeshi's Castle, but has little in common with the TV show apart from being absolutely bonkers and near impossible to win. It seems to have been designed with the same sadistic mentality as the Desert Bus mini-game by Penn & Teller, but with the obscure and unpredictable requirements for success that only gamers of the 1980s will have any sympathy for.

I never thought I'd say it, but I've actually got my eye on the next Final Fantasy game.

Turn-based battles are the furthest thing from "my thing" that a thing could ever be, so the vast majority of RPGs pass me by. Everything else about the genre presses my buttons, but the fact my button presses don't immediately and directly affect my character during combat spoils the pudding for me.

So the news that Final Fantasy XV will eschew tradition and give the player direct control in fisticuffs makes my hair stand to attention like, well, every Square Enix character in the company's history.

When there's fighting to be done, I want to get in there and get my hands dirty. When I press X, I want that to translate into my character's knuckles passing through someone else's teeth, or at least my sword clanging against their shield. I don't want to play general, issuing commands for my soldiers to carry out at whatever scheduled interval battlefield etiquette dictates.

So I'm hoping this will be a chance to play my first Final Fantasy (...) and enjoy the other parts of the game that probably seem old hat to everyone else by now.

Although I seem to recall talk of a controversial change in Final Fantasy XII's combat system. Can anyone tell me if that's what I've been looking for all along? Or was it not quite arcadey enough for the tastes I've described?

I'd say yes and no. Well, in truth, it's probably not arcadey enough for your tastes. It is real time, but from what I recall, you don't really control you're characters like you would in an action game or something. It's more like you select a course action for your character to follow and then sort of straddle around the enemy while your character keeps automactically performing that course of action, and it's all in real time. Or something like that, sorry for the crappy description. So yeah, not really arcadey in truth, but probably more exciting than the turn based battles for you, and it is a really superb game. Easily one best FF games made to date, quite underrated in my opinion.

I've not played Warcraft but it's kind of how I imagine that game would play, yeah. But there's probably a lot more to it than that, as I seem to recall a lot of people lauding FF12's combat at the time. For me it was never really much better than the turn based battles, in fact I found it a kind off annoying half way house. More stressful than turn based battles and less satisfying than a proper action game. The game is still ace though, I really did enjoy it's world.

It will be released at Spring 2016 on Steam.

Update: deleted it from my list, because: http://teamyu.net/Shenmue.III/topic,160.msg2022.html#msg2022

I gotta be honest, Giorgio, that game looks pretentious as hell.

You may be right; remain to be seen in the final execution. However, the concept is interesting, and one that I would like to see more in the gaming industry. That said, I indeed don't like the over-dramatic tone and ultra-depressing mood that in some "vignettes" will try to pass on the players. I greatly prefer more bright and hopeful experiences. Unless if the "negative" ones touch you in some way that they don't make you sad/depressed, but positively heartily touched by what is happening, while a light of hope can be seen and it's possible to reach it, leading and ending in a sense of accomplishment of acquiring good feelings/emotions (make your happiness flourish) in your psyche by that.

I've been playing it over the weekend and I'm a little bit in love with it. A great tonic for the anger and stress I've been feeling lately.

And definitely a must-buy for parents of kids aged under 12, if you want them to grow up not to be assholes.

I have Doki Doki Universe, but only played it for about 15 minutes. It's from PS+ though, and my account expired. :/

I played the demo; it wasn't bad seeing it, but the execution was not interesting (the fluidity of the visuals/events was lethargic and disconnected). It wasn't what I was expecting.

Murdered: Soul Suspect - Steam
It's a detective themed title and it seems interesting.

Her Story - Steam
A detective type interactive movie, with a challenge to decipher the clues and hints to unravel the real suspect.

I've heard a little bit of something about that. Sounds interesting. I'll certainly consider giving it a second glance when it hits the shelves. :P

Animal Crossing series

It seems like the cartoon-y version of Shenmue.

Shenmue: a realistic version of Animal Crossing.

If that doesn't sell it to a new generation of gamers I don't know what will.

That sounds like a clever way to market it. Hopefully, the new partners (including SONY) will have a more open mind and be in tune with the essence of the creation their dealing with, unlike SEGA's nitwittedly misleading established set of marketing attitudes (for Shenmue) back in the days.

Hacknet (Steam)

Seems really interesting (to do that through fiction; at least if you are engaged with programming and/or hacking; it's semi-realistic, though, which serves mostly for the entertainment).

Volume - PC/PS4/Vita

A stealth game very much in the style of the original Metal Gear Solid, but from the maker of Thomas Was Alone. Think I'll be dusting off the Vita for this.

Since I've been playing Fallout Shelter so much, I think I want to play New Vegas before I play Fallout 4. But then again, I didn't play it based on what my friends said about it. Maybe I should just replay 3.

Until Dawn (PS4)

It seems it has a choice and consequence(s) system that is even better than Life is Strange's. However! I dislike (almost) any horror related theme. Therefore, I would need to play this interactive cinematic story together with a friend. Or near the beach with full sunlight to filter out the jump-scares...

Beyond Eyes (Steam)

"Beyond Eyes is a modern fairy tale about finding courage and friendship. Step by step, uncover an incredible world, carefully guiding Rae, a young blind girl, on a life changing journey."

Luna (TBA)

Quote
Our first title, Luna, is a tactile puzzle game set in a vibrant and sculptural story-book world. It begins when the Owl convinces a young Bird to swallow the last piece of the waning Moon. Listed as part of the "deep games" movement, Luna is part of our mission to make games that reach new people, with new experiences.

Inspired by origami, shadow boxes, abstract sculpture and minimalist illustration, we are excited to share more with you as it comes to life. We believe that games can appeal to an expanding, maturing group of players - and hope to count you as part of that audience!

One day, I would love to play this.

Blues and Bullets (Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/378660/?snr=1_5_9__205))

If it did not have shooting elements, I would have play it day one (but it's still a possibility I'll).

Give me detective/investigative thinking-based interactive entertainment.

Freedom Planet - PC, Mac, Linux, Wii U

The sequel's already been announced but I've just been made aware of the first game, which I think you'll agree looks like a brilliant 2D platformer reminiscent of Sonic & Knuckles with a touch of Gunstar Heroes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMEmcVRNZvI

As it's not available on PSN (or Xbox Live) I'll have to wait till I get a Wii U before I buy it, as I don't play action games while sitting at a PC. But here's the Steam link (http://store.steampowered.com/app/248310/) if you do.

Oxenfree - Xbox One, PS4, PC

A horror-based graphic adventure (http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/19/oxenfree-xbox-one-review-turn-the-radio-on-5631834/) with an apparently excellent dialog system. And at the very least, fans of the cassette player sleuthing section in Shenmue II ought to enjoy it. ;)
